THE BASICS

addition to the painstaking professionalism which has established and
confirmed our position in the language services market, the other main
determinant of our evolution as a firm has been our constant adaptation
to the exponential development of information technology. The shift from
the first display word-processors of the 1980s to the most advanced
DTP applications, local networking, ISDN connections, and the continual
updating of software: these are indispensable conditions, nowadays, for
competitiveness in a business whose very essence is change, and for
adaptability that gets the most from emerging technologies. The firm’s expansion might have been exponential also, if we had sought like many others, when spurred on by the potential for success, to go for ambitious targets, even risky ones. But when it came to strategic choices, our preference has always been for that balance without which there can be no steady growth in the elements which, in our view, are the hallmark of the long-term winner: quality, consistency, accuracy and professional care.
